HARBINGERS OF SPRING!

"But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." Romans 8:24&25
Even as we know that the Spring we hope for will eventually come, so also we know that our hope and trust in Jesus as our Savior will bring about a future in Heaven! No doubt about it!! I'm looking forward to that even more than Spring! Come quickly Lord Jesus!!!!!

Yes, that's snow blown in on the swing. Brrrr! This one's for you Cathy, my most faithful blog commenter. This is a picture of my cousin Cathy's husband, and their granddaughter Rily taken last summer.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

This morning we woke up to a surprise! Twice the snow we had gotten yesterday! 5" Total! They had changed the snow level to 1000', so we thought we wouldn't be getting anymore. So what do they know! And it's been snowing off and on all day! In fact we're having a blizzard as we speak!I am a little worried about those birch trees. They've been bent so many times in the last month with our myriad of snow occurrences! They give a whole new meaning to weeping birch!
Oh for longer legs!
By the way, the previous 4 photos are courtesy of Josiah. I post his because he forgot the password to his blog and he has such good pictures. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

There's always time for more snow pictures!Josiah and I had a busy morning. After making our usual rounds taking pictures of the same things (Hey, there was twice the snow on everything! It really does look different!), he took me down the hill to my haircut appointment, only sliding a couple of times. However...getting back up is a different story! We ended up parking the car in my walking partner's driveway and walking up the hill. At the bottom of the hill there was a full size pickup crosswise in the road with it's rear end in the ditch! Glad we didn't try it! The 4 wheel drive vehicle trying to pull the truck out of the ditch (out of the picture to the right) was sliding sideways down the hill!

Both of us decided we hadn't had enough fun in the snow, so we built this snowman family all before lunchtime!
Hey! I can even see them from my kitchen window! Hope they can stay for a while!
Here's my little family the next morning with snow on their hats, and the ground we'd uncovered to make them is again totally covered.

WELCOME TO OUR WINTER WONDERLAND!

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY JOSIAH!

BIRTHDAY WISH COME TRUE!

Josiah always prays for snow on his birthday. And wouldn't you know it, it started snowing on his birthday, Sunday afternoon and off and on all night long. This post are all his pictures that he took this morning...a birthday wish fulfilled!
Sun and blue sky make for pretty pictures, but also make quick work of the snow even at 38 degrees.
Did you know that cats like to make snow angels too? Well, Moses does!
A look down the hill from in front of our house. It's very deceiving. It's not that deep but extremely slick! Jeremiah's driver who comes to get him and take him to work, slid of the road half way up the steep part of the hill. Needless to say, he didn't go to work today.

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY, JOSIAH!

For his 21st birthday, all Josiah wanted was to go up to Hoodoo and play in the snow with his friends and family. You'd think with all the snow we've been having this winter he'd be tired of it. But then 2" is just not the same as 10 feet or more of the awesome white stuff! So Saturday morning we headed up the mountain, had a nice picnic lunch and hot chocolate in the parking lot, then attacked the slopes with a vengence! That's us, the friends and family! From the top left to right, there's Jeremiah, Carissa, the Shinn boys, Josh and Brandon, Josiah, and down front Marci and Dennis. What's happened to kids these days? All they want to wear is dark colors. What happened to the bright reds, yellows, and blues? Well I, for one, am happy to accommodate in the red department!
The guys decided they wanted to take a "walk" back into the trees. I had already made up my mind that I wasn't going because I'd already taken a step a little too close to the trees and sank in up to my crotch! Let me tell you, it's not an easy feat to pull your leg up out of a 31" deep hole the diameter of your leg with the boot still on! However, after looking at their beautiful discoveries, I kind of wish I would have risked it. Besides think of the points you could burn with each step!

Trekking done, they all decided to make a bunch of snow heads and put them on posts! I thought this one was the most creative.

SNOWMAN FUN!

Meanwhile back at the lodge, Carissa, Dennis, and I (with a "little" help from Jeremiah) decided we'd build a snowman.
Hey! Who put that little head there? Jeremiah!! Where does he always disappear to when it's time for a picture? The guys returned in time to help with the finishing touches. Don't you think he looks a little familiar? As soon as someone put the pine needles under his nose, we knew who it was! You can't tell very well in the picture, but his right arm is raised!

NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL WINTER!

Yet another beautiful snowy morning on southwest Clay Street.

This time the snow was dryer and it swirled around totally encasing the Nandina berries.
Oscar seemed to enjoy this dry stuff a lot more than that sloppy, wet, stuff we've been having, but then who wouldn't feel frisky with the sun shining! I actually got motivated to finally put away Christmas! Well, most of it anyway. There's just something rejuvenating about the sun! By lunchtime the sun had done away with most of our snow, but just now we had a downpour of hail and the ground is totally white again!

WE LOVE SNOW!!!

Josiah and I got up early to take snow pictures. We probably got a little carried away, but then we always do when it comes to snow. Josiah is really enjoying his new camera. This first posting of 6 pictures I took. The 6 in the following post are all Josiah's.

We did have some damage from the weight of snow and ice. We lost most of the fig tree and about 15' out of the top of a birch tree!
I was lonely for the 4th of July!

JOSIAH STEPS INTO NARNIA!

Another beautiful sunrise to add to Josiah's repertoire. "On Golden Pond"?
The spirea in the foreground is smashed down to half its normal heighth because of the weight of snow and ice!
God loves jewelry! Don't believe me? Just look!
